With the rise of artificial intelligence from the popular ChatGPT to the new AI Microsoft released on Bing, artificial intelligence is everywhere and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. While the new technology is exciting for many, it’s worrisome for marketers and writers. The joke about AI taking over people’s jobs doesn’t seem to be funny anymore. AI can’t take over writing jobs, but it can be a useful tool for writers to add to their toolbox. Here’s why AI can’t replace your writing job and how to use AI as a tool instead.
1. It’s Too Risky
There have been several reports on AI spreading misinformation, as reported in the New York Times. The article discusses researchers using ChaptGPT to create convincing text that repeated conspiracy theories and misleading narratives. Besides the misinformation issue, AI has also created offensive output, as CNN found. Combining both of those results will create a marketing nightmare for any company. Besides, AI draws its information from past data. This means it won’t know the latest trends so it can’t help with marketing in that aspect.
2. People Connect with People
While using AI to create content and writing might be efficient, it can hurt a company. People want to connect with people, and they know when something is not written by a person. It’s similar to when your email or LinkedIn suggests auto replies such as “Great post!”, “Thanks for sharing!”, “I’ll get right on that.”, etc. Social media isn’t just a numbers game, it’s also about connecting with the community. And that’s something AI can’t replicate. In addition, AI might be able to read all the comments about a company, brand, or trend, but it won’t know when someone is being sarcastic or if they truly like what the company is doing.
While AI might change your role and your job might be a little different, it can’t erase your job. Instead, it adds to it as a tool to save you time and money. Here are some ways AI can help your workflow.
1. Offload Manual Tasks
With AI you’re able to save yourself time and energy while preventing burnout when you use AI as a tool. AI is never tired and always full of good ideas. So it can handle the smaller tasks, like what to present to our clients, ideas for social media, blog topics about a topic or industry, etc.
2. Integrate with Data
AI can integrate with automation tools and can help you process the data. In marketing, there is a lot of data between social media, email marketing, ads, etc. AI can create readable reports to help you better understand the data, which lets you create better business decisions while saving you time. This process saves you time and headaches all with the click of a button.
3. Be Proactive
With AI in your toolbelt, you can be proactive instead of reactive when managing social media and branding. AI can help you get ahead of the changing algorithms, respond to trends, and generate content. AI can be used to get in touch with what your audience is saying by tapping into social media listening. Social media listening can help you get on top of trends but also be proactive about arising issues.
Artificial intelligence is a lot of things, but it’s not coming for your job. Your job needs human voices and a human-to-human connection, and that won’t change soon.
